Blogilates Challenge Update
About a month ago I posted about my Blogilates Challenge. It came while I was reflecting on my post-pregnancy body habits, and I saw workout calendar on Pinterest. I had used (and loved) the Blogilates Videos before, but never consistently. I decided to start one of her Beginner's Calendars and track my progress! I even created a new Instagram Page to stay connected with others throughout my journey.
The 4 week challenge ended about a week ago, and I ma happy to say I am keeping with the daily workouts! I am started the original Beginner's Calendar on Monday, because I felt I needed another month of getting in shape and learning the basics of Pilates.
I have been eating well (stay tuned for a review post on the 10 cheapest most nutritious foods) and working out almost every day, and I know it's paying off. I'm happy to still be motivated to become a truly healthy mama!
I tracked my weight, belly inches, and habits throughout the four weeks to really see my progress. By following the calendar, walking 4-5 times a week, and changing my eating habits, I was able to see little improvements.
In four weeks, I lost three and a half pounds (2.5%) and half of an inch around my hips. I noticed less of a weight change because I gained a considerable amount of muscle. It's a slow start, but it is a start!
The biggest change I noticed was in my overall motivation and priorities. It became truly important to me to get in shape, which meant that some of my daily choices changed. I went for healthier foods in the grocery store. I took a walk instead of turning on the TV. I paced around my apartment at night to meet my step goal. (Thanks, fitbit!) It's the little choices coming together that are turning me into a healthy mama.
Another thing I noticed was the power of social media accountability. Everyone is on social media, and everyone can find something bad to say about social media. I'm not completely won over to all platforms, but the few I am on helped to keep me accountable in my four week journey. Not only that, but I got little bits of encouragement from strangers on Instagram that made me even more excited about the changes I was making. There are a lot of mean people hiding behind the anonymity of the internet, but there are also a lot of good people who can cheer you on through a journey.
Overall, I'm feeling good! I encourage you to start (or continue) a more healthy journey in your life. Don't discount the little choices you make each day, and find your motivation! And when you start your journey, find ways to encourage those around you on theirs.
